I will make this short and sweet.  Anyone that was waiting for the Jelly Bean image to be available direct from Google can now go get it here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#sojus.  This should make flashing new ROMs a lot less worry-some.  Get the images and then go ahead flash to your heart’s content.

I was a victim to clicking through things too fast and was recently greeted with a blank friends list when I pulled my phone out the other day to see if my wife had made it where she was going.  The version of maps that is running on devices with Jelly Bean such as the Nexus 7 is different than what is currently running on 4.0.4.  If you did what I did and un-checked the wrong box you can actually mess up friends for all other mobile devices and even using a browser.  Instructions on how to get your Friend List back after the break. I have seen a few posts on other forums about people wanting to go back to stock to get the OTA.  There have also been a lot of questions about rooting after the OTA and if it will remove root.  I decided I would take my phone back to 2.3.7 and then install superuser for 2.3.7.  After that I will take the OTA to see if a few things happen.  Is the recovery replaced?  Does the OTA remove the SU binary and in effect superuser access?  Read on to see the results and what the next steps are. So you don’t want to flash that nice full factory image I posted?  What if you are not one of the first people to get the OTA since Sprint said it could take “weeks” for all devices to get it? Read on for the update link and instructions. (more…)

I might be a little late on this one but the Nexus S 4G IMM76D Factory image is available.  If you don’t want to wait for your OTA notification or if you just don’t want to ever go back to gingerbread here is the link: http://goo.gl/uRREq

Just a quick update that I saw on Google+ today.  ICS 4.0.4 is rolling out for the NS4G, all I can say is about time.  Here is the link to the Google+ post: http://goo.gl/FqELZ

Here is a followup to the extracted radio from earlier.  I have the 4.0.4 IMM76D build for the NS4G uploaded and ready to go with instructions.  This will wipe your device there are plenty of 4.0.4 builds out there from source already but if you want to try what the OTA should be here it is.  I am working on updating my ROM and should have a 4.0.4 based build ready sometime this week.
